Six-monthly on-site dental care, delivered to your campus, and to the wellness days that fall outside that rhythm. Fully covered by existing medical aid. Zero downtime. Zero admin for HR. Zero execution risk. The dental benefit you’ve already been paying for, finally redeemed as the modern perk it should have been all along.

Mia at Work is already deployed across JSE-listed and premium employer campuses in South Africa. By the time you sign, many of your peers already have.
According to the Council for Medical Schemes, around only 15% of general dental benefits are claimed annually by South African scheme members. The benefit is being paid for. It’s just not being used. That’s not a benefits-design failure, it’s an access failure. Off-site appointments are inconvenient, employees skip the visit, and the brochure promise quietly fails to land.
Mia at Work closes the access gap. The dentist comes to your campus on a six-monthly rhythm aligned with the scheme’s benefit cycle, and to your wellness days when they fall outside it. Utilisation goes up. Downtime goes down. Your team uses the benefit they’ve already been paying for.
It isn’t apathy. It’s logistics. A typical off-site dental visit in a metro CBD costs the employee about three and a half hours of paid time once travel, waiting and decompression are accounted for. Faced with that math, most senior employees simply don’t book, and the benefit goes unclaimed.
The fix is structural. Bring the chair to the campus. Bring it back every six months. The friction drops to zero, and your benefit-utilisation rate climbs from 15% toward what the benefit was originally designed for.
~3.5 hrs
Paid time the off-site visit would cost, which is exactly why most employees skip it

Get the executive briefYour team already has medical aid. They already have a dental benefit they’re not using. We come to your campus on a six-monthly rhythm, deliver care your employees will tell their friends about, and claim directly from their scheme. You get utilisation up, downtime down, and HR gets the upside without carrying any of the delivery risk.
Modern, on-site dental care that decreases team downtime and lifts benefit-utilisation rates. The kind of perk employees tell their friends about, and the kind HR is recognised for introducing.
Mia at Work runs nationwide across South Africa, with active deployments at leading JSE-listed and premium employer campuses. You’re not the first to do this, the playbook is proven, the references are available.
First chair on your campus within two weeks of yes. Then we return every six months, in line with the medical-scheme benefit cycle, and attend your wellness days whenever they fall outside that rhythm. The benefit-utilisation engine just runs.
We bring the bookings platform, staff comms, consent capture, claims pipeline, power and water. And because we already run this nationwide, your campus deployment isn’t an experiment. If it doesn’t land, that’s our brand on the line, not yours.
Four pillars. One proven, nationwide deployment.
Get the executive briefSouth African medical schemes refresh dental benefits every six months. We operate on the same cycle, so the chair returns to your campus exactly as the next round of preventive cover comes online. And whenever a wellness day falls between visits, we attend that too. Two distinct touchpoints, one continuous benefit-utilisation engine.
Six-monthly is the cadence preventive dentistry is actually designed around, and it’s the cadence the major schemes (Discovery, Momentum, Bonitas, GEMS) structure their general dental benefit around. Operating in lockstep with that cycle means the benefit gets used the way it was budgeted to be used.
Then there are wellness days, your campus run-rate of activations that don’t always line up with the six-month calendar. We attend those as a separate touchpoint, with the same clinical team and the same standard of care.
Executive employees won’t use a wellness service that feels like a queue at a public clinic. The whole point is that Mia at Work looks and feels like a private practice, just one that happens to be on your campus.
Soft lighting, hospital-grade chair, modern instruments. Nothing about the experience suggests “shared employer benefit”.
Employees book their slot from a clean portal that looks like Calendly. No HR coordination, no shared sign-up sheet, full privacy.
Every employee’s clinical file is their own. HR sees aggregate utilisation only, never individual records. POPIA-compliant by design.
Continuity of care between visits. Employees see the same dentist who saw them six months ago. Familiar, not transactional.
We submit to the employee’s medical aid directly, no out-of-pocket payment, no reimbursement form, no follow-up admin for the employee.
If a treatment plan is needed beyond a routine visit, we hand off to your patient’s preferred dentist or to a local Mia clinic, never lose continuity.

A Mia operations lead visits your campus to confirm logistics, space, power, parking, scheme mix, employee headcount. One visit. One hour.
Within two weeks. Same clinical team, same booking platform, same standard of care. The six-monthly cycle starts on day one.
Before you forward the executive brief to the rest of the leadership team, the questions you’ll be asked answered up front.
Zero direct cost. Mia claims directly from each employee’s medical aid using the dental benefit they already have. There’s no per-head fee, no setup charge for the standard deployment, and no monthly retainer. The only thing you provide is space, power and a comms touchpoint with employees. Wellness-day attendance and after-hours custom rollouts are scoped separately if needed.
The major SA medical schemes (Discovery, Momentum, Bonitas, GEMS, Polmed and others) all carry a general dental benefit by default, this is the case across the vast majority of your workforce. For employees on plans that don’t cover dental, or who exceed their benefit limit, an out-of-pocket pricing option is available at private-practice rates. No employee is turned away.
Employee clinical records are private to the patient and Mia’s clinical team. HR only ever sees aggregate utilisation data, how many employees attended, broad clinical-finding categories, never individual records. A full Data Processing Agreement is part of the contract. Mia’s POPIA officer is available to brief your legal team directly.
On the six-monthly visit, the clinician identifies whether a treatment plan is needed beyond the routine check-up. If so, the employee can choose to (a) continue treatment with their existing dentist (we hand over notes and X-rays), (b) book at their nearest Mia clinic, or (c) opt into the next on-campus visit. Continuity of care never breaks.
Multi-campus deployment is standard. Each campus runs on its own six-monthly cycle, the booking platform routes employees to the campus they work at. For JSE-listed groups with provincial spread (Gauteng + Western Cape + KZN, etc.), we have a national operating footprint to handle the schedule.
Dental is where the utilisation gap is largest and the employee-experience win is most tangible. Most wellness services target prevention conditions employees aren’t actively thinking about, dental is the one preventive service every employee actually feels the difference from, twice a year. It’s the highest-leverage entry point. Mia is focused on doing this one thing extremely well, not stretching across wellness categories.
